If you were there on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, you know that the night was a celebration of everything that Girls Inc. of Westchester County represents. If you weren’t there, we think you’ll be inspired to join us next year. We hope that the photos and summary of the evening will help you (re)envision the moving and inspiring event that just took place.

STRONG SMART BOLD GALA PHOTOS

The excitement and energy level of the 300 people in attendance at the Strong, Smart, and Bold Gala at the Westchester Marriott was unprecedented. From the start, the night was filled with surprises and fun when a $1,900 Jason Wu purse was raffled off and presented to a lucky attendee in the audience.

The evening was emceed by Kim Berns, host of the radio show Anything Goes with Kim Berns on 1490 WGCH. The program show stoppers were the personal stories and entertainment from some of the Girls Inc. Westchester program participants. Scholarship winner Adriana Santiago related the story of her emotional quest for a $5,000 award. A live performance, with accompanying video produced by the girls themselves, brought the room to tears. The crowd was so electrified following their interaction with the girls that they rallied and raised an additional $34,000 immediately following the presentation. If you didn’t get a chance on Tuesday, there’s still time to support Strong, Smart, and Bold Girls here:

I WANT TO DONATE

The incomparable Erin Ward of Star Benefit Auctions conducted a live auction with one of a kind experiences and events.

All in all, the benefit Gala raised a total of $190,000 for continued Girls Inc. Westchester programs that support over 600 girls annually. “This event highlights the work we do in a unique and personal way,” said Catherine Lepone, Executive Director. “Our supporters love attending so that they can hear firsthand about the powerful impact of our programs.”

This year’s honorees were Andrea Gilman, a Senior Vice President at MasterCard; Erica Hill, Host of HLN’s On The Story with Erica Hill (CNN and HLN); and Sandra L. Richards, a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley; each delivering speeches that touched everyone in attendance, and stories that made it clear how they are blazing the trails for the future generation of girls. Board and Event Chair Jennifer Altman stated, “What has been demonstrated all over the world is that when we nurture the potential of girls, we nurture our culture. We bring new energy, new ideas, and new hope for everyone’s future.”
